Sophon Saram to appoint amnesty expert and probe institute bribery claims

Sophon Saram, Speaker of the House, is moving to appoint a qualified expert to the amnesty committee following the announcement of the Social Peace Promotion Act. He expects to submit a name to the Prime Minister within one to two days to ensure the committee can begin its work promptly.

Separately, Saram has ordered a fact-finding committee to investigate allegations against the Secretary-General of King Prajadhipok's Institute. The allegations involve claims of soliciting benefits in exchange for admission to a high-level political administration certificate program. While the Secretary-General has verbally claimed the matter is a misunderstanding and presented documents regarding a withdrawn lawsuit, Saram stated that a formal investigation is necessary to protect the institute's reputation and ensure fairness to all parties.
