Sophos partners with OpenAI to integrate frontier AI into cybersecurity defense

Sophos has announced a partnership with OpenAI to integrate frontier AI models into its Sophos Fusion cybersecurity defense system. This collaboration aims to provide managed service providers (MSPs) with advanced AI capabilities to enhance threat detection, investigation, and response within a single, connected architecture.

Through this partnership, OpenAI models will operate within Sophos Fusion, which connects endpoint, network, email, cloud, identity, and security operations. This approach allows MSPs to deliver frontier AI security as a unified system rather than managing disparate tools. Additionally, Sophos is launching Sophos AI Defense, which provides visibility into the use of AI and shadow AI within organizations to help enforce usage policies and secure sensitive data.

Sophos Fusion is designed to address security tool sprawl by consolidating signals from native and third-party tools into a shared data layer. The company reports that its AI currently resolves 52 percent of cases autonomously, with an average response time of 89 seconds from alert to automated action.
