Sophy Romvari debut film Blue Heron explores family trauma

Sophy Romvari’s directorial debut, ‘Blue Heron’, is a Canadian-Hungarian family drama inspired by the filmmaker’s own childhood. Set in the 1990s on Vancouver Island, the film follows a family struggling to cope with the increasingly unstable and anti-social behavior of their eldest son. The narrative explores the psychological toll on both the parents, who attempt to document their lives through photography, and the younger siblings witnessing the chaos.
