Sopot police rescue disabled man trapped in cemetery

Police in Sopot rescued a 53-year-old disabled man who spent eight hours trapped in a cemetery. The incident occurred on Friday, October 2, after reports were received that contact had been lost with the individual.

A patrol consisting of Junior Aspirant Radosław Kotwicki and Sergeant Anna Składanowska searched the dark and cold cemetery when they heard cries for help. They located the man, who was exhausted, cold, and had no access to food or water. His mobile phone had run out of battery, preventing him from calling for assistance, and his disability made it impossible for him to exit the grounds independently.

Medical rescue teams were called to the scene to examine the man before he was released into the care of his family. Local authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any concerns regarding the safety of others, particularly the elderly or disabled, especially during the autumn season.
