Sorana Cîrstea drops to 16th in WTA rankings
Sorana Cîrstea has dropped to 16th place in the WTA rankings, following her recent performance and the rise of American player Iva Jovic. Jovic moved up to 13th after defending her title in Guadalajara, defeating Peyton Stearns in the final.
Cîrstea, who is in the final season of her professional career, previously reached a career-high ranking of 15th after reaching the quarterfinals of the US Open. Her 2026 season included a title win at the Transylvania Open and a quarterfinal appearance at Roland Garros.
While the top 10 of the WTA rankings remains unchanged, with Elena Rybakina maintaining the world number one position, there have been shifts in the rankings immediately surrounding the top tier. The current top 10 order is Rybakina, Sabalenka, Pegula, Gauff, Andreeva, Noskova, Svitolina, Muchova, Swiatek, and Kostyuk.
