Sorana Cîrstea reaches career-high WTA ranking of 17

Tennis player Sorana Cîrstea has reached the WTA Top 20 for the 22nd week, climbing to a career-high ranking of 17th. This advancement follows her run to the quarterfinals in Cincinnati, where she lost to Jessica Pegula.

Cîrstea currently splits her time between Romania and the United Arab Emirates. While she holds residency in Abu Dhabi, she lives in Dubai to take advantage of superior training and tennis facilities. She noted that she spends the winter months in Dubai and the spring through autumn in Bucharest, though she maintains that her home and heart remain in Romania.

Following a withdrawal from the Monterey tournament due to injury, Cîrstea is preparing for the US Open. If she proceeds with her plan to retire at the end of the season, this will be her final Grand Slam appearance.
