Sorbey wildfire destroys 53 hectares in Moselle

A significant fire involving fields and wasteland destroyed 53 hectares in Sorbey, Moselle, on Tuesday, September 8. Driven by strong winds and heat, the blaze posed a high risk of spreading to a farm and a residential building.

Firefighters deployed approximately 20 operational units, including drone teams and medical support, to conduct reconnaissance, extinction, and soaking operations. These efforts successfully protected the nearby farm and home, preventing further propagation. During the intervention, residents were evacuated, and one woman was hospitalized at Mercy Hospital after inhaling smoke.
