Sorgun mayor opens first honey harvest, announces 2026 Sorfest honey contest

Mayor Erkut Ekinci of Sorgun visited Mehmetbeyli village for the season’s first honey harvest, inspecting the combs and discussing the yield with local beekeepers. He highlighted the region’s rich flora and the distinctive aroma it gives to the honey.

Ekinci also announced that the upcoming Sorfest 2026 festival will include a new "Best Honey" competition, the first of its kind, open to participants from Yozgat Province and surrounding districts. The event is intended to promote local producers and encourage a lively contest among beekeepers.
