Addressing reports from The Wall Street Journal regarding a March meeting with US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, Grindeanu stated the discussion was limited to Romania's role as a transit hub for the Vertical Gas Corridor and did not involve gas supply contracts or political interference.

Interim Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu clarified that the US Ambassador was in Romania for a private business event and lacked a mandate to negotiate on behalf of the US government. Meanwhile, political tensions remain high as Cluj County Council President Alin Tișe urged the PNL to clarify its stance on the scandal to protect the strategic partnership with the US.

In a separate political development, Interim Minister Dragoș Pîslaru criticized the PSD, suggesting the party might be prioritizing its own leadership ambitions over national stability by potentially opposing the upcoming Mureșan Government.
