Sorma Group and Unitec debut new fruit automation technologies
At the Fruit Attraction event, Sorma Group and Unitec showcased new automation and artificial intelligence technologies designed to enhance efficiency and quality in the fruit and vegetable sector.
Sorma Group introduced the EVA-700, a pre-sorting machine designed to automate the removal of overripe or unsuitable fruit, potentially replacing manual sorting tables. Additionally, the company debuted the Ultra-Scan, a technology capable of detecting internal fruit defects at speeds of up to 15 pieces per second. This complements existing systems like Hyper Vision, BioScan, and PulpVision.
Unitec presented an integrated approach termed ‘augmented intelligence,’ combining AI with robotics and vision systems to assist packing houses facing labor shortages. Their offerings include the Uni Smart Packer, which automates repetitive packing tasks, and the Uni Sample AI, an optical vision system that analyzes blueberries directly in crates to provide batch management data without extra handling.
