Sorocaba authorities respond to heavy rainfall and flooding

The City of Sorocaba has intensified cleaning and maintenance operations following intense rainfall over the weekend. Municipal secretariats, including Public Services and Works (Serpo), Mobility (Semob), Civil Defense, and the water utility Saae/Sorocaba, have been deployed to various affected locations.

Cleanup efforts include removing fallen tree branches on Avenida Nove de Julho and clearing debris from several major thoroughfares, such as Avenida Dom Aguirre and Avenida XV de Agosto. While most flooded streets and avenues have been reopened to vehicle traffic, teams continue to work on restoring full mobility.

Mayor Rodrigo Manga inspected affected areas, including Parque das Águas and Parque Vitória Régia, to monitor progress. Civil Defense is also coordinating the distribution of hypochlorite to residents in Vila Mineirão and Vila Mathilde whose homes were impacted by the rising waters.
