Sorocaba announces cultural, infrastructure, and health initiatives
The City of Sorocaba has announced several municipal initiatives involving culture, infrastructure, and public health.
Regarding culture, the 53rd edition of Mostra Japão may be integrated into the city's official events calendar starting in 2027. Tourism Secretary Hudson Pessini noted the festival's importance for valuing Japanese culture and boosting the local economy.
In terms of infrastructure, the municipal government delivered a new leisure area at Praça Isabel Linares Ascêncio in Vila Hortência. The project, funded by a parliamentary amendment from Councilman Fernando Dini, includes a playground, outdoor gym, landscaping, and LED lighting. The inauguration event provided residents with access to health services, employment guidance, and consumer protection assistance.
Additionally, the municipal health department concluded its 'Yellow September' mental health campaign. The program included training for public servants to better manage psychiatric distress and various community activities, such as workshops and ecological walks, aimed at promoting life valuation and mental health awareness.
