Sorocaba hosts school games and amateur football tournaments

The city of Sorocaba is hosting several sporting and cultural events. The 2026 Sorocaba School Games (JES) will hold matches from September 14 to 18, featuring the Mirim category and the tenth week of the Infantil category. The competition involves 50 schools and includes various disciplines such as athletics, basketball, futsal, volleyball, and chess.

Additionally, the second round of the Taça Cidade de Sorocaba 2026, the first division of the municipal amateur football championship, is underway. The tournament features 19 clubs divided into groups, with specific rules regarding advancement and relegation. Local authorities have reminded spectators that the use of fireworks is prohibited under municipal law.

In cultural news, Sorocaba's municipal libraries are offering vinyl cover creation workshops for children aged six and older to encourage reading and artistic expression.
