Sorocaba celebrates 372nd anniversary with festivals and special transit operations

Sorocaba is celebrating its 372nd anniversary with a series of municipal events and special logistical operations. On August 15, the city will host festivities at the Paço Municipal, including civic parades, musical performances, a gastronomic festival, and activities such as helicopter and hot air balloon rides.

To accommodate the celebrations, Urbes and the Secretariat of Mobility have announced special public transport measures and traffic restrictions in the Alto da Boa Vista region. This includes reinforced bus lines, a special route to the Paço Municipal, and temporary road closures on Avenida Engenheiro Carlos Mendes during the morning.

In addition to the anniversary festivities, the city is hosting various sporting events. The Jogos Escolares de Sorocaba (JES 2026) are ongoing, involving 50 schools across multiple athletic and recreational disciplines. Furthermore, the Taça Cidade de Sorocaba 2026, a municipal amateur football tournament, is scheduled to begin on August 30, featuring 19 participating clubs.
