Sorocaba expands Municipal Civil Guard and updates school sports schedules
The City of Sorocaba has announced several municipal updates regarding public service and community activities. The Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) is expanding its force, with the Human Resources Department summoning 16 approved candidates from the 2023 public contest to fill eight immediate vacancies for Second Class officers. This recruitment brings the total number of summoned candidates for this contest to over 300, with 288 positions filled to date.
In sports, the Secretariat of Sport and Quality of Life (Sequav) has released the schedules for the 2026 Sorocaba School Games (JES). Scheduled for the week of August 31 to September 4, the competition includes the tenth week for the Infanto category and the eighth week for the Infantil category. The games involve 50 schools and various disciplines, including athletics, basketball, futsal, and chess. Additionally, the city is preparing for the 46th Cruzeirinho Open Futsal Tournament for children and adolescents, which will hold a technical congress on August 29.
