Sorocaba municipal guards receive criminal forensics training

The City of Sorocaba, through the Municipal Urban Security Secretariat (Sesu), conducted a training session for 110 new members of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) focused on criminal forensics. The training emphasized the importance of forensic science in criminal investigations and judicial processes.

Ariadne Araújo Pinheiro Schemer, director of the Criminal Forensics Nucleus (NPC) of Sorocaba, presented the topic. The session provided insights into how the Scientific Police use scientific methods to collect materials and evidence from crime scenes to produce technical proofs and forensic reports.

These new guards are part of a larger group of over 300 recruits called by the municipal administration since 2024, bringing the GCM's total force to its largest in history, exceeding 500 agents. The recruits are currently undergoing an 840-hour training program at the School of Formation, Improvement, and Specialization (Efae), which includes theory, practice, shooting courses, and supervised internships.
