Sorocaba and Olímpia implement special operations for 2026 elections

Municipalities in Brazil are implementing special operational plans for the 2026 elections. In Sorocaba, the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) has established a security strategy involving integrated actions with the Military Police, Civil Police, and Electoral Justice. The GCM will deploy fixed personnel to 33 school units to secure electronic voting machines and will reorganize patrol sectors to increase frequency near polling stations.

To facilitate voter access, Sorocaba will implement special traffic management and public transportation measures. This includes zero-fare municipal bus services on election day and specific road closures near electoral registries to accommodate the transport of voting materials.

Similarly, in Olímpia, the local government has decreed free municipal public transport for the first round of the 2026 elections. The measure includes special operating hours for eight specific bus lines to ensure residents can reach polling locations easily.
