Sorocaba's CEU das Artes Hosts Regional Chess Cup
The Centro de Esportes e Artes Unificado “Professor Flávio Vespasiano Di Giorgi” (CEU das Artes) in Sorocaba will hold the Regional Chess Cup on Sunday, 26 June, starting at 8:30 a.m. The tournament is organized by the municipal Prefecture through the Secretariats of Sports, Quality of Life and Culture, and is open to the public of all ages.
The CEU maintains two chess classes in partnership with Projeto Ampliar, totalling 25 participants ranging from children to adults. National master and instructor Valdenicio Lima said, “Students want to put what they have learned into practice and aim for the best placement possible. Many are motivated to compete for the title in their categories, seeing the competition as a chance to learn, evolve and overcome.”
The event features an Infantojuvenil category for participants up to 16 years old and an Adult category for anyone 16 and older. The top three finishers will receive trophies, while places four to eight will be awarded medals. Registration is ongoing via an online form, and participants must present a valid ID on the day of competition.
