Sorong police arrest suspect in cruise ship theft

Police in Sorong City have arrested a suspect following a theft on a cruise ship belonging to a German national. The incident occurred around 1:00 AM WIT on Saturday, September 19, 2026, while the vessel was anchored in the Malawei Village area of the Sorong Manoi District.

The victim reported the loss of valuables after returning to the ship following a shopping trip. Total losses are estimated at approximately Rp250 million. Authorities have seized various items as evidence, including Apple laptops, mobile phones, a drone, speakers, headphones, diving equipment, a dive computer, two spear guns, and fishing gear.

One suspect, identified by the initials O. J. D. F., is currently in custody. Police are actively pursuing four other individuals—identified as FK, SG, A, and YA—who are currently on the wanted list (DPO).
