Sorong provides MSME aid while Untag Surabaya assists earthquake-affected students
In Sorong, the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs has distributed capital and equipment to 228 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Funded by the 2026 Special Autonomy (Otsus) Fund, the initiative includes 132 indigenous Papuan (OAP) recipients and 96 non-OAP recipients. The assistance consists of business capital for 123 entrepreneurs, 33 vendor carts, 55 tents, and 17 display cases, aimed at strengthening economic independence and local growth.
Separately, Untag Surabaya has implemented academic relief for 58 students from Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) whose families were affected by an earthquake. The university is allowing a postponement of Study Plan Card (KRS) payments until late October 2026 and providing online learning options via its Learning Management System. The institution is also organizing psychological support and fundraising efforts, with projected donations approaching Rp100 million.
