Sorong sees surge in educational initiatives and academic milestones

Various educational initiatives and milestones are taking place in Sorong, Papua Barat Daya.

As part of the national ‘AI Goes To School’ program, MAFINDO conducted artificial intelligence training for 113 teachers at SMK Negeri 1 Sorong. Supported by organizations including Google.org and the Asian Development Bank, the program aims to train 10,000 teachers across 40 cities to integrate AI into classroom management and teaching processes.

In a community outreach effort, student organizations from Universitas Terbuka (UT) Sorong held an educational session at TBM Manaspur. Students provided interactive lessons to children ranging from kindergarten to high school, covering topics such as balanced nutrition, stunting, bullying, and HIV/AIDS.

Additionally, IAIN Sorong held a graduation ceremony for 164 undergraduate and postgraduate students. During the event, Rector Dr. Suparto Iribaram announced plans to introduce two new study programs: Religious Sociology and Religious Psychology.
