Sorrento Calcio 1945 delegation meets Pope Leo XVI

A delegation from the Sorrento Calcio 1945 football club was received in an audience by Pope Leo XVI at the Vatican on September 30, 2026. During the meeting, the club presented the Pontiff with various symbols of Sorrento’s local traditions, including a personalized team jersey, Limoncello di Capri, and Gargiulo oil. The delegation also gifted an inlaid papal coat of arms crafted by local artisan Leone Intarsi.

Separately, renovation work continues at the Stadio Italia in Sorrento. Technical core drilling is currently underway to prepare for the construction of the central grandstand.
