Sorrento celebrates Blue Flag award and record Sant’Anna fireworks

The municipality of Sorrento held a ceremony at the Villa Comunale Salve D’Esposito to present the Blue Flag certification to local beaches. Mayor Corrado Fattorusso presided, emphasizing that the award marks a commitment to water quality, safety and sustainable tourism. The flag was hoisted by the Port Authority and the event was attended by the Environment assessor, local police and environmental groups.

Later that night the town marked the traditional Sant’Anna festival with a record‑breaking fireworks display. Thousands gathered along the Marina, praised for the efficient management by municipal police, civil protection and emergency services. A drone light show projected peace‑themed patterns, followed by synchronized fireworks set to music, including a tribute to late singer Peppino Di Capri. The celebration highlighted Sorrento’s cultural heritage and its appeal to residents and visitors alike.
