Sorrento hosts third Cronoscalata del Nastro Verde cycling event

The Sorrento Peninsula recently hosted the third Cronoscalata del Nastro Verde, a cycling event celebrating the region's deep connection to the sport. The competition took place along challenging climbs featuring views of the Gulf of Naples, Vesuvius, and Capri, as well as the Gulf of Salerno.

Giuseppe Bianco recorded the best time in the event, while Lidia Principe was recognized for her performance as both a mother and an athlete. The event served as a tribute to the legacy of Carmine Castellano, a prominent lawyer from Sant’Agnello who became a central figure in Italian cycling and served as the director of the Giro d’Italia from 1993 to 2003.

The community continues to honor the heritage established by figures like Castellano, maintaining a tradition of cycling that blends professional competition with the natural beauty of the Sorrento landscape.
