Salerno tourism sector evasion exceeds 10 million euros

The Guardia di Finanza has uncovered over 10 million euros in tax evasion within the tourism sector in the Salerno province. Following 85 targeted inspections, authorities identified significant irregularities involving bed and breakfasts and short-term holiday rentals.

The investigation focused on high-traffic areas including the Amalfi Coast, Cilento, and the city center of Salerno. Officials discovered numerous unauthorized hospitality activities operating without required safety or health permits.

Common violations included the failure to pay local taxes, IRAP, RAI license fees, and SIAE rights, as well as the non-payment of tourist taxes. Additionally, the inspections revealed instances of undocumented labor and the failure to display mandatory national identification codes and public tariffs.
