Sorrento officials dispute Tourism Minister regarding interministerial table

A dispute has emerged regarding the existence of a national interministerial table dedicated to managing and securing tourist flows in Italy. During a meeting in Sorrento, Tourism Minister Gianmarco Mazzi stated that, according to his collaborators, such a committee does not exist.

However, local representatives noted that the Ministry of Tourism officially announced the establishment of this interministerial table on July 2, 2025, under the previous administration of Minister Daniela Santanchè and in collaboration with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. The announcement was intended for locations experiencing significant tourist volumes.

Local officials have reiterated their request for Sorrento to participate in these institutional discussions to address the challenges of high-intensity tourist destinations, suggesting the discrepancy may be due to an information error within the Ministry.
