Italy authorities seize 220 million euros in assets linked to organized crime
Italian authorities have seized assets valued at approximately 220 million euros from a Campanian entrepreneur and his family members. The seizure, executed by the Guardia di Finanza in coordination with the Naples District Antimafia Directorate, follows investigations into business ties with organized crime groups, specifically the Camorra.
Investigators identified significant discrepancies between the entrepreneur's declared income and his actual wealth, which includes real estate and corporate holdings in Campania and Lazio. The investigation highlighted business operations linked to criminal elements, including the development of the ‘Parco Primavera’ residential complex in Melito di Napoli.
In other regional developments, tourism officials in Sorrento are meeting with Minister Gianmarco Mazzi to discuss the peninsula's identity and infrastructure challenges. Meanwhile, in Taranto, the fishing and mussel farming sectors are facing a crisis due to shortages of mussel seed and bureaucratic hurdles regarding maritime concessions. Additionally, a 7.5 million euro investment has been approved for the Taureana di Palmi port, and 4.9 million euros have been allocated for a wastewater treatment plant in Soverato to protect the marine environment.
