Sorrento residents report safety risks from abandoned private property

In Sorrento, a private property located on Corso Italia has become a significant source of concern for local residents and business owners due to long-term neglect. The property, which includes a garden and pergola, has been abandoned for approximately fifteen years due to a complex inheritance dispute.

The lack of maintenance has resulted in several public safety and health risks. The garden has become an overgrown jungle with invasive vegetation that reaches the upper floors of neighboring buildings. The accumulation of dry foliage poses a fire hazard, particularly given the property's proximity to a fuel station. Additionally, residents have reported hygiene issues involving pests, including rats and snakes.

Structural decay is also evident, with a compromised pergola and a corroded street-facing gate that residents fear may collapse.
