Sorriso child dies after drowning in local lake

An 11-year-old boy, Luanderson Porto, died after drowning in the Lago da Zona Leste in Sorriso, Brazil. The incident occurred on a Saturday when the child went to play with his brother.

According to reports, the boy entered a section of the lake that appeared shallow but was actually deep. He remained submerged for approximately five minutes. His mother attempted CPR upon finding him, and emergency medical services (Samu) performed resuscitation efforts for about 50 minutes. Despite these efforts, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Zona Leste UPA medical unit. The circumstances of the accident are under investigation.
