Sorriso swimmer Davi Scariot Pantaleão Neto dies after sudden illness

Davi Scariot Pantaleão Neto, a 13-year-old competitive swimmer from Sorriso, Mato Grosso, died on Wednesday night after falling ill. The young athlete, recognized as a rising talent in the sport, reportedly experienced intense pain in his back that radiated to his abdomen.

After being taken to a local health facility, medical staff attempted resuscitation efforts, but he passed away around 10:35 p.m. The Civil Police have registered the case as a “death to be clarified,” and an investigation is expected to determine the exact cause of death.

Davi was a student at Escola Nova Dinâmica and had achieved several titles, including regional championships in the 50, 100, and 200-meter breaststroke. In response to the tragedy, the school suspended classes for mourning. The Mato Grosso Aquatic Sports Federation and local swimming projects have also expressed condolences.
