Sorriso to host 5km women's run for breast cancer awareness

The city of Sorriso will host a 5km run exclusively for women on October 17 at Parque Vila Bela Ângelo Vígolo (Lago da Zona Leste) as part of the 'Outubro Rosa' breast cancer awareness campaign. The event aims to encourage physical activity, promote social integration among women, and emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and preventive care.

While official registration provides participants with an event t-shirt, those who did not register are still invited to participate in the course. Registered participants can collect their kits on September 28 from 17:00 to 19:00 at the Lago da Zona Leste, with a requirement to donate one package of dog or cat food. These donations will be distributed to local animal welfare NGOs and independent protectors.

In conjunction with the sporting event, the municipal health network in Sorriso will increase the availability of preventive exams throughout October. Women can visit their local Basic Health Unit (UBS) to request Pap smears or seek referrals for screening mammographies without needing a prior referral.
