SOS Alarm warns of fraudulent death notification SMS scams
SOS Alarm has issued a warning regarding fraudulent text messages being sent to individuals. These messages falsely claim to be from “SOS” and state that a close relative has died in an accident. The fraudulent texts include specific names and personal identity numbers, claiming that no one was available at the home during a visit to deliver the news.
Anders Fredriksson, security manager at SOS Alarm, described the activity as “incredibly distasteful and repulsive.” The police are currently investigating the origin of these messages. Authorities are urging anyone who receives such a text to report it to the police immediately.
In separate news, a suspect has been identified in an investigation regarding suspected election fraud in Järva, Stockholm. According to documents from the Solna District Court, an individual has been assigned a public defender in connection with the case.
