Sosas de Laciana forest fire perimeter contained

The forest fire in Sosas de Laciana, León, has been downgraded from a Potential Gravity Index (IGR) of 1 to level 0 after emergency teams successfully contained its perimeter. While the fire remains active, crews managed to prevent the flames from spreading to new areas.

Technical extinction director José Carlos García López reported that the day began with a strong thermal inversion, causing significant smoke accumulation in the valley. Strong southern winds complicated efforts by reigniting certain spots, but aerial and ground resources successfully halted the fire's advance toward Robles de Laciana.

Teams also conducted an “active defense” of Sosas de Laciana, the origin of the fire, to manage remaining hot spots. Although the perimeter is contained and the fire has not grown, emergency personnel will continue working to consolidate the perimeter using heavy machinery and ground units.

Earlier in the incident, a 70-year-old man was injured by burns and evacuated via helicopter to a hospital in León.
