Sosnowiec launches 10,000 PLN child benefit; German Kindergeld to pay Polish families 1,100 PLN

The city council of Sosnowiec, Poland, approved a new family‑support scheme called “Maluszkowe”. Starting in 2027, parents residing in the municipality can receive a one‑off payment of up to 10,000 zł for each newborn, with a reduced 1,000 zł amount for a second child. Eligibility depends on income, residence within the city limits and possession of a valid city card, and applications must be filed within six months of birth. The programme is expected to cost about 200 k zł in its first year, rising to roughly 1.5 million zł annually after two years.

From January 2026, Germany’s Kindergeld will rise to 259 euros (about 1,100 zł) per child per month and can be paid until the child turns 25 if they remain in education or training. Polish citizens who live, work or are tax‑resident in Germany may apply, but if they already receive Poland’s 800‑plus benefit the German payment will be reduced to the difference between the two amounts. Applications are submitted to the Familienkasse with the usual birth‑certificate and employment documents.
