Blaquier-Arrieta Collection to be auctioned by Sotheby’s for $450 million

Sotheby’s has announced the auction of the Blaquier-Arrieta collection, a group of 12 Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces scheduled for November 18 in New York. The collection, amassed by Argentine collectors Nelly Arrieta de Blaquier and Carlos Pedro Blaquier, has remained largely unseen by the public for several decades. The total estimated value of the sale is approximately $450 million.

Key highlights include Vincent van Gogh’s “Châtaigniers en fleurs,” estimated at $180 million, and Paul Cézanne’s “Arlequin,” estimated at $120 million. Both works have not been publicly displayed for roughly half a century. The collection also features significant works by Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Edgar Degas, and others.

Before the New York auction, the artworks will embark on an international tour with previews in London, Taipei, Hong Kong, and Paris.
