Sotiris Alexandropoulos to depart Sporting CP as club seeks free move

Sporting CP has indicated it will let Greek midfielder Sotiris Alexandropoulos leave on a free transfer. He is in the final year of his contract after completing a loan spell at Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The 24‑year‑old was not included in Sporting’s preseason plans under coach Rui Borges and is currently training with the club’s B team while the management evaluates options. Earlier loans to Olympiacos, Standard Liège and Fortuna Düsseldorf did not result in permanent deals.

Greek side OFI Crete have shown interest in signing Alexandropoulos, and Transfermarkt lists him among the club’s possible acquisitions as OFI prepares for Europa League qualifying matches.
