Soğukpınar villagers renovate 50-year-old school building
Residents of Soğukpınar village in the Kangal district of Sivas have renovated a 50-year-old abandoned school building and housing unit through a community-led collective effort. After obtaining the necessary permissions from authorities, village headman Erdoğan Yılmaz led the initiative to restore the structure.
The renovation included renewing the interior and exterior plastering and replacing doors and windows. Local tradespeople and villagers contributed both material and labor to complete the project. The restored building is intended to serve as a multi-purpose hall for social and cultural activities, with the school garden planned to host various village events.
To celebrate the completion of the work, villagers gathered in the schoolyard to celebrate with traditional music and dance.
