The Soul Train Awards will return to television this fall following a three-year hiatus. BET announced that the ceremony will be taped in Chicago, the city where Don Cornelius originally launched the “Soul Train” franchise over 50 years ago.
Presented by Spotify and Toyota, the awards show is scheduled to air on Friday, November 27, at 8:00 PM ET on BET. For the first time, the telecast will also be simulcast on CBS, along with BET HER, VH1, MTV2, and LOGO. Spotify will serve as the exclusive music streaming partner for the event.
BET executives noted that the upcoming show will feature a “bold new format” designed to honor legendary acts while celebrating contemporary artists in R&B and soul. Jesse Collins Entertainment will serve as the production company for the event.
