Soulm8te digital release expands M3GAN franchise

The spinoff film Soulm8te, set in the M3GAN sci‑fi horror universe, was released digitally on August 1 2026 after being removed from Universal’s theatrical schedule. The decision follows the poor box‑office performance of M3GAN 2.0, which earned $39 million worldwide compared with the original’s $181 million.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment now offers Soulm8te for purchase or rental without a subscription. The movie was written by James Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Rafael Jordan and directed by Kate Dolan. Its cast includes Lily Sullivan, David Rysdahl, Claudia Doumit and Arty Froushan. Critics note the film’s psychological depth and its blend of horror with a sensual thriller tone.

The release marks the first straight‑to‑digital entry in the franchise, expanding the M3GAN storyline beyond theatrical releases.
