Sound Transit construction impacts Kenmore and Bellevue
Infrastructure development for Sound Transit's Stride rapid transit service is currently impacting several areas in Washington. In Kenmore, construction is progressing along the SR 522 corridor (Bothell Way). Recent milestones include utility installations and the first shelter footing pour at the 73rd Avenue NE eastbound station. Upcoming work includes foundation pouring for pylons and lighting at the 61st and 68th Avenue NE stations, which may result in nighttime lane closures and traffic detours.
Simultaneously, the Bellevue Transit Center is experiencing disruptions due to Stride S1 and S2 construction. Portions of the center are closed, leading to the relocation of various bus stops to adjacent streets. These relocations affect westbound 520 routes, southbound/eastbound I-90 routes, and northbound 405 routes. The current phase of closures is expected to last until October, with the western half of the center scheduled to close until January.
