SoundHound AI launches generative voice assistant in Kia Sorento in India

SoundHound AI has deployed its real-time generative AI voice technology in the Kia Sorento in India. This integration marks the global debut of the Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI for the Sorento lineup, representing a category first in the Indian market.

Powered by SoundHound’s proprietary voice AI platform and activated by the “Hey Kia” command, the system supports continuous, multi-turn conversations. It allows drivers to control in-cabin systems such as climate, lighting, windows, and driving modes using natural speech rather than rigid commands.

Additionally, the assistant provides hands-free vehicle intelligence by accessing the digital owner’s manual to explain features like hybrid powertrain functions. It also includes dynamic conversational search for real-time information, localized navigation, and news updates, specifically engineered to function accurately in noisy cabin environments.
