Sourav Ganguly appointed Delhi Capitals head coach for IPL 2027
Sourav Ganguly has been appointed as the new head coach of the Delhi Capitals for the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The former Indian captain replaces Hemang Badani, who led the team through the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Ganguly has a long-standing relationship with the franchise, having served as an advisor since 2019 and later as the Director of Cricket for both the men’s and women’s squads. His appointment comes as the team seeks its first IPL title. Alongside this coaching change, the franchise has released bowling coach Munaf Patel, team director Venugopal Rao, and assistant coach Ian Bell.
In a related roster move, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to rejoin the Delhi Capitals after a stint with the Lucknow Super Giants. Pant was traded to Delhi in exchange for Kuldeep Yadav. Ganguly expressed confidence in Pant’s ability, stating that the player “fits perfectly” in the team’s middle order.
