Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, in his debut season as head coach, was praised by Pretoria Capitals skipper Keshav Maharaj for building a strong team culture that helped the franchise reach the SA20 final in the 2025‑26 season. Maharaj highlighted the camaraderie off the field, noting shared meals, game‑watching sessions and a "real buzz" within the camp. Under Ganguly’s leadership, and with former South Africa skipper Shaun Pollock serving as assistant coach, the Capitals finished the league stage second, won five of ten matches and advanced through Qualifier 1 before losing in the championship match.

Maharaj, who moved from Durban's Super Giants to Pretoria ahead of Season 4, contributed 12 wickets at an economy of 6.54 and praised the home crowd at SuperSport Park in Centurion. The team will open the 2026‑27 campaign against Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the same opponent from the previous final.
