Souraya Noujaim appointed director of Louvre Abu Dhabi

Souraya Noujaim has been appointed as the new director of Louvre Abu Dhabi. The announcement was made by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism as the institution prepares for its 10th anniversary in 2027.

Noujaim succeeds Manuel Rabate, who has led the museum since 2016. An art historian and curator specializing in Islamic art history and archaeology, Noujaim previously served as the director of the Department of Islamic Arts at the Musée du Louvre in Paris.

Her history with Louvre Abu Dhabi includes serving as its first scientific, curatorial, and collections management director from February 2018 to April 2023. In her new role, she will oversee collections, exhibitions, research, conservation, education, public programming, and the museum's broader institutional strategy.
