Sousa child hospitalized after marijuana ingestion
A three-year-old child was hospitalized in Sousa, Paraíba, after ingesting marijuana. The child was taken to the Hospital Regional de Sousa by his mother on a Friday night, appearing sleepy and tearful.
The mother informed medical staff that she was a drug user and claimed the ingestion may have occurred accidentally when the child consumed residue left behind while she was preparing the substance at home. The child was moved to pediatric semi-intensive care but was stabilized and discharged on Monday.
The Military Police were notified by the hospital, and the mother was taken to a police station for questioning. She was later released after providing a statement. The Sousa Guardianship Council has been called to monitor the situation, and authorities are awaiting technical reports to confirm the circumstances of the ingestion.
