Sousse hosts international One Health conference
The 5th international One Health conference commenced in Sousse, Tunisia, bringing together approximately 200 researchers, academics, and health experts from 17 countries. The event focuses on the intersection of environmental crises and human, animal, and ecosystem health, specifically addressing climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, and land degradation.
Organized by the Universities of Sousse and Monastir in partnership with institutions from the United States and Italy, the conference aims to strengthen international academic cooperation. Key topics include the impact of environmental pollutants on the emergence of new diseases and the CoSTA international research project, which examines associated pathologies.
A significant outcome of the meeting is the establishment of the One Health World Association, which will be headquartered in Italy. Professor Margherita Ferrante has been appointed president, while Tunisian researcher Mohamed Banni will serve as vice-president.
