South Aegean Development Agency holds workshops for regional agricultural products

The South Aegean Development Agency (GEKA) held strategic workshops to enhance the value chains of three key regional products: Denizli thyme, Aydın figs, and Muğla pine honey. These workshops are part of the “Anadoludakiler: 81 İl 81 Ürün” program coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

Participants included local governments, universities, chambers of agriculture, and industry representatives. The discussions focused on increasing global competitiveness and economic value through several initiatives. For Denizli thyme, specific proposals included strengthening producer cooperatives, implementing smart agriculture technologies, and establishing a barcode-based traceability system.

GEKA Secretary General Ümit Gülyağı stated that the primary objective is to identify bottlenecks and create actionable plans to transform local agricultural potential into added value, from production to export.
