South Aegean taxi licenses can be upgraded to 6- or 9-seaters
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has approved a request from the Governor of the South Aegean Region to allow all public service taxi licenses in the region to be replaced with vehicles seating six to nine passengers.
Following the publication of the ministerial decision, Regional Governor Giorgos Chatzimarkos issued an expression of interest call. This allows taxi professionals based in the South Aegean administrative units to apply to the regional transport service to upgrade their existing licenses to higher-capacity vehicles.
The measure aims to modernize the taxi fleet across the islands and provide more flexibility to meet the specific demands of tourist traffic by allowing for larger vehicle capacities.
