South Africa and Zimbabwe to hold Bi-National Commission meeting

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa are scheduled to participate in the Fourth Session of the South Africa–Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission (BNC) on August 21, 2026. The high-level meeting aims to deepen bilateral cooperation and review the implementation of existing agreements spanning trade, investment, and infrastructure development.

A South Africa-Zimbabwe Business Forum will also be hosted by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) in Johannesburg. This forum is designed to facilitate dialogue between the public and private sectors to identify opportunities for expanding trade, promoting investment, and strengthening industrial cooperation.

Key discussion topics include addressing trade barriers, improving transportation and logistics connectivity, and developing regional value chains. The discussions also aim to support the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area. Current major exports from South Africa to Zimbabwe include corn, refined petroleum, and heavy equipment, while Zimbabwe's primary exports to South Africa include nickel, gold, and chrome.
