South Africa boosts affordable access and fan trips for 2026 FIFA World Cup

MultiChoice’s DStv service announced a major price reduction, offering a DStv Access subscription with a decoder for R199 per month over 24 months, plus a free stream on the DStv Stream app. The package, launching on 15 May 2026, aims to make live coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup – hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada – affordable for South African households. MultiChoice Broadcasting Services CEO Willington Ngwepe said the move seeks to let as many South African football supporters as possible watch the tournament.

Separately, the South African Football Association (SAFA) met with Sports, Arts and Culture Minister Gayton McKenzie to finalise plans to take 2010 Bafana Bafana legends and a group of lucky fans to the World Cup. The discussion focused on logistics for the fan‑trip to the North‑American venues, reinforcing efforts to involve South African supporters in the global event.
